The Band
A RAVEN'S SORROW has become known in Boston for its artistic
and brutally honest music that focuses on the problems with life and existence. The band has found a home in Boston's art community
and is planning a series of smaller tours to various art-oriented
cities in the United States in 2012.
WHAT makes their music so different? The fact that it's not about
the music at all. Hearing an A Raven's Sorrow album is an
experience, taking you on a journey so unsettling and maddening
it can be hard to handle. "I've actually had dates turn me down
only after hearing this music," says member Jeff Glazier. "And
we've lost band members who couldn't handle how incredibly
depressing our music and message is. People have told me that
what we're doing is the most depressing thing they've ever heard."
ALTHOUGH their music falls under the category of rock, it's certainly
like nothing that's come before. While many albums have some level
of orchestral arrangement, A Raven's Sorrow songs are actually "composed" in the classical sense. Explains Glazier: "It's not about
a genre or a style or an approach. It's about creating something
meaningful that hasn't been said before and that needs to be heard."
A RAVEN'S SORROW is currently in production of Chrysalis, an album
that questions whether life is worth living and challenges conventional beliefs about what it means to be human. It is
scheduled for release in Winter 2011. The band has also been
working on a follow-up album, Hail Suicide, which explores solitude
and social anxiety. It is scheduled for release in 2013.
