News from the band, as told by Glazier:

August 16, 2011: Chrysalis Album Still Under Development
We're still working on our album called "Chrysalis" and are hoping to have it available for download by the end of the year. We appreciate all of you who are patiently waiting for this. We're very pleased with how the album is coming together.

March 30, 2011: Artscope Magazine prints story on upcoming House of Blues Event
Brian Goslow, managing editor at Artscope Magazine, wrote a great story about the music & art show we will be hosting at the House of Blues on Saturday, April 30. Read the full story here.

September 1, 2010: ARS Interviewed Again by KC Music Live
The other day Jason I were again interviewed by KC Music Live (www.kcmusiclive.com). This time the topic was our work on the album Chrysalis, which we're planning to release this winter (although Jason and the host took a lengthy tangent to talk about groupies). The interview will be posted on their website on Sunday, August 5 and will be available until the following Sunday.

June 2, 2010: Interview with New England Garage Bands
Jason and I sat down with Jeff Royds from New England Garage bands for what ended up being a 37 minute interview. While he recorded the whole thing on his iPod, we brought along an HD camera to capture it all on video. The interview discusses a number of topics, from the conception of the band name to the ideas behind the music. You can watch the interview on this website or on our Facebook page.

June 20, 2010: ARS in Preproduction of Debut Album
We've been hard at work on our debut album, Chrysalis. It's a concept album, in a way, about what it means to be alive. I'll be sharing more details as they develop, but in the meantime, a few of our first-cut preproduction demos have been made available on this site and on the our Facebook page.

May 26, 2010: ARS Singer Banned from Berklee School of Music
Today the Berklee School of music banned me from ever again setting foot on their campus. I had been recruiting there, looking for musicians to join us for our concerts. From what I was told, the decision was multi-departmental and was primarily based on a substantial number of faculty and students being offended by disturbed by "controversial imagery" that we used on our recruiting website, namely the Hail Suicide album title and cover. I put together a little blog post on my thoughts on this, you can click here to read it.

April 20, 2010: Brown Spring Weekend Show Canceled
We were looking forward to performing this weekend at Brown University, but the student involved in booking bands--a member of their Greek Council named Jamilya--finally decided to give our music a listen and expressed surprise at it being so depressing. What's sad is that I warned her long ago to give the music a spin, and she had previously claimed she did. In any case, the show's been pulled on us, and we're deeply sorry for all the Brown community that won't get to see what we worked so hard on to prepare. We hope to see many of you sometime soon for another occasion.

April 3, 2010: ARS to Perform at Brown University’s Spring Weekend
This one means a lot to me, as I hold a special place for Brown University and what it fosters. Our band has been offered a slot at the school's Spring Weekend "Rage on Wriston" event, which we gladly accepted. The concert will be Saturday, April 24, but is unfortunately limited to only Brown students and a short guest list that we can submit. Please feel free to contact us to be included, as we'll accommodate as many fans as they will permit.

March 30, 2010: Jeff Glazier to P erform Every Monday Evening at Lizard Lounge
Those who came out last night to Lizard Lounge witnessed the beginning of something magical. I gave the locally famous Monday night open mic at Lizard Lounge a try and was pleasantly surprised to find a receptive audience, so I'll be going back. Each week I'll play a song-in-the-works from what will eventually be our Hail Suicide album, on acoustic guitar, of course. When possible, I'll grab videos and post them online for everyone.

March 29, 2010: Open Mic at Lizard Lounge
Tonight I'm planning to head over to the open mic at Lizard Lounge in Cambridge to perform a song or two on acoustic guitar. Will report back about how it goes, and anyone who is interested in catching it live, please feel free to come.

March 22, 2010: Jason and Jeff to Perform at Oliver’s Nightclub
We've been offered a sort of last-minute slot at Oliver's Nightclub this Friday, so Jason and I will be performing as a duo act. The promoter's given me a number of free tickets to hand out to fans. Send us an e-mail if you'd like to come, should be a good show, as this is the first time Jason and I have performed just the two of us. This is a 21+ show, and after the free tickets are gone, the cover at the door will be $10.

March 8, 2010: Jeff Glazier Performs at Alchemist Lounge
Last night I gave the open mic at Alchemist Lounge in Boston a try. Not really my scene, unfortunately, but I captured it on video and will post it in the next few days for those who'd like to see. I did an acoustic rendition of the song Hail Suicide.

January 28, 2010: ARS Puts Shows on YouTube
For those who weren't able to make it to our show at the club Church the other night (and for any fans out there from other cities), we brought an HD camera and took some video. Kind of blurry footage, as the long shot was pretty far away, but with a little editing the video came out alright. Take a look either on this website or by visiting our Facebook or YouTube pages (the same videos are on all three).

January 26, 2010: ARS Announces February 22 Show
Our band will be performing on Monday, February 22 at Harper's Ferry in Allston (158 Brighton Ave). Tickets are $8 at the door, and the show is 18+ with ID required. We're looking at a 45 minute set. I think we'll play a mixture of what we're working on for the Hail Suicide album and the Chrysalis album, but gotta come to find out.

January 20, 2010: ARS Demos on iTunes
We've made a few first-cut demos for the Hail Suicide album and the Chrysalis album and put them on iTunes. If you search for A Raven's Sorrow, you'll find them. We'll probably keep these available until we get closer to releasing the actual albums.

January 2, 2010: ARS Begins Launch of New Website
We've been working with one of my friends, David Kekone, on putting together a new website for our band. It should launch pretty soon. More on this as it develops.

January 1, 2010: Happy New Year
For what it's worth, we wish you all a happy new year.

December 31, 2009: ARS Releases Official Demos
We just released two sets of demos. One set includes demos of five songs from what will eventually be the album titled "Hail Suicide," the other set includes five demos of songs from the eventual album "Chrysalis." At this point, we haven't decided for sure which album we will produce first. The demos will soon be available on iTunes.

December 30, 2009: ARS Announces New Show Date
Our first show of the year will be at the club called "Church" in Boston (69 Kilmarnock Street, near Fenway Park). The show date is January 10, and we'll be on from 9pm-10pm. Tickets will be sold at the door for $6. This show is 21+ with ID required.

December 3, 2009: ARS to Play Cambridge's All Asia Bar
Our next show will be at All Asia in Cambridge on Monday, December 14. The show will start at 8pm and is 19+ with ID required. The cover is $5 if you're over 21, otherwise it's $8.

November 30, 2009: Jeff Glazier and Jason Percival to Appear on KC Music Live
KC Music Live (www.kcmusiclive.com) will be airing an interview with Jason and me on Sunday, February 7 at 10pm E.T. The show and interview will afterwards be available on the KC Music Live website for the entire week from February 7 through February 13. In this interview, we talked a little bit about the band's history.

October 10, 2009: Hail Suicide Demos Announced
We recently finished putting together five first-cut demos from what will eventually be the "Chrysalis" album. Now we're going to begin putting together five demos from what will eventually be the "Hail Suicide" album. The process will be pretty similar to how we made the Chrysalis demos, except that the drum parts in the Hail Suicide demos will take a bit more work. My hope is to have these demos ready by the end of the year.

September 20, 2009: Recording of Chrysalis Demos Begins
I've started working on tracking five demos from what will eventually be the album "Chrysalis." A few times a week, our drummer Steve Sherlock has been coming by our home studio so we can work on the drum parts for the songs. The way things are going, we should have the demos ready in just a few weeks. Stay tuned for more info.

July 1, 2009: ARS Working with David Kekone on Website
We're going to be working on putting together a new website in the near future. The design will be by David Kekone of Canto Five. Pretty cool guy with an amazing art portfolio.

June 14, 2009: Steve Sherlock Fractures Heel; Hard Rock Show Still On
Our drummer Steve Sherlock fractured his heel this morning, but still expects to be able to perform at our August 1 show at the Hard Rock Cafe. More details to come, so be sure to check back prior to the show.

June 7, 2009: ARS to Play Hard Rock Cafe, Boston
We'll be opening for Living Syndication at their Hard Rock Cafe (Boston) show on August 1. Tickets will go on sale in advance via our website on July 1 and will be $12 in advance and $15 at the door. This show will be 21+ with ID required.

June 20, 2009: ARS Launches Facebook Page
We just launched a Facebook page at www.facebook.com/aravenssorrow. We're hoping to use the Facebook page as the primary way to stay in touch with fans. If you don't have a facebook account, you can always reach out to us via our old fashioned e-mail list.

May 6, 2009: ARS Demos Mastered by Eddy Schreyer
We finally finished mixing our first two demos, “Hats Off for Jesus” and “Let Go,” and sent them off to be mastered. The mastering is being done by Eddy Schreyer at Oasis Mastering in Los Angeles.

April 24, 2009: ARS Has Sunrise Photo Shoot on Prudential Tower
I grew up looking a the Prudential Tower, seeing it as a symbol of Boston. This morning, as most of Boston slept at 3:30 A.M., we were dragging our entire arsenal of gear--amp stacks, keyboards, guitars, and drums-onto its literal roof for our first ever photo shoot. Pretty amazing stuff, and something I'll never forget. The top of the building is pretty cool--there's a ton of antennas and satellite dishes, and it was so windy the photographer's lights kept blowing over. Jason actually had lost his hat there when we were scouting the location a few weeks earlier--it blew right off his head and over the edge. But one of my favorite things of all is that when our manager secured us the photo shoot, the head of the Pru wrote back “The Pru tower is the beacon of Boston and represents the hopes and dreams of the city--and now ARS.” I will never see that building the same way again.

February 23, 2009: ARS Hits the Studio to Record New Demo
Today will be our first time in the studio (other than my own). We'll be tracking two demos with engineer Ted Paduck at Mix One studios in Boston.

December 8, 2008: ARS Teams up with Artist Jim Bizier
I've had an idea for the Hail Suicide album cover. An image of a gangster god with guns. Today we found an artist who can make that vision a reality. One of the senior art directors at Arnold Worldwide--an artist named Jim Bizier--has taken an interest in putting together our album artwork for us.

September 15, 2008: Jeff Glazier Opens NT Studios
I think this is a fitting news story to start with, as in a way it represents the new formation of the band. Today I put the finishing touches on my home studio, which we'll be using as our rehearsal space and as a way to cut demos of our songs. I decided to call it NT Studios, although I'll leave the reasons a mystery.
